Generative artificial intelligence (AI) has been one of the most exciting and rapidly growing areas of technology in recent years. Its ability to create new content, from text to images to music, has opened up new possibilities across industries.

ChatGPT ranks as the most popular generative artificial intelligence (AI) tool in the world. According to research from the World Bank, the chatbot technology developed by OpenAI had 2.34 billion visits by March 2024. ChatGPT accounted for 82.5% of total traffic among 40 other generative AI tools included in the research. Here are the 8 most popular generative AI in the world in 2024:

1. ChatGPT - 2.34 billion visits
2. Gemini - 132.9 million visits
3. Poe - 43.4 million visits
4. Perplexity - 40.2 million visits
5. Claude - 32.3 million visits
6. DeepAI - 31.1 million visits
7. Copilot - 26.2 million visits
8. Midjourney - 24.7 million visits

As for the types, generative AI tools with chatbot types are most widely used by the world community by contributing 95% of the total traffic or visits to generative AI tool sites. Then, image creation applications accounted for 4.2% of traffic, while video creation tools accounted for less than 1%.
