Asia is home to more than half of the world's population, as well as some of the most densely populated countries on the planet. The latest data from statista.com highlights the demographic giants of the Asian continent with India and China leading by a significant margin.

Topping the rankings is India, with a staggering population of 1.457 billion, followed by China at 1.417 billion. These two countries alone have nearly 3 billion population, underlining their huge influence on global demographics and economics.

Indonesia is in third place with 284 million population, while Pakistan is in fourth place with 274 million population. Bangladesh, despite having a smaller area, is home to 174 million people, and comes in at fifth place.

East and Southeast Asian countries also featured prominently. Japan came sixth with 123 million, ahead of the Philippines (116 million) and Vietnam (101 million). Rounding out the top ten are Iran with 92 million and Turkey with 87 million, both bridging the cultural and geographical gap between Asia and the Middle East or Europe.

This data not only reflects the enormous human resources in Asia, but also raises questions about resource management, urbanization, and sustainable development. As populations grow, these countries will play an important role in shaping global challenges and opportunities in the decades ahead.
